BarnettWorks Control Integration Shop

Relay Panel No. 01 · American Fork Workshop

Every Loop Wired, Every Rung Drawn, Wired and Proven

BarnettWorks is the control integration practice of Barnettworks Limited Co., operating from 56 S Center St in American Fork, Utah. Our engineers design the control system architecture, wire the field devices, build the panel schedule, commission every loop in the field and stay on the contract for long term support. If a plant needs a loop drawn, a rung proven and a cabinet shipped with a wiring number on every terminal, this shop is built for that exact work.

Who We Are

A control board is only as good as the drawing behind it

Barnettworks Limited Co. is a computer integrated systems design practice registered at 56 S Center St, American Fork - 84003-2340, United States (US). The BarnettWorks team works at the junction where mechanical intent, electrical reality and software logic meet. We take a plant process, translate it into a clear sequence of operations, draw the ladder logic and the wiring schedule, then stay on site until every loop responds the way the process intends.

Clients come to us when a line is being built, rebuilt or modernized and no single vendor is accountable for the whole control story. That is precisely the accountability our shop offers. One engineer owns the architecture, the panel schedule, the commissioning sheet and the support agreement, so nothing falls between the electrical contractor and the software integrator. From control system architecture design through to a signed commissioning record, we hold the thread.

Our work sits in the industry described as Computer Systems Design and Related Services, Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services, and Computer integrated systems design. In plain language that means we solve instrument level problems with engineering discipline, and we document every decision so a maintenance electrician three years from now can read the cabinet and understand it. The wire numbers are real. The terminal strip is real. The ladder logic in the binder matches the ladder logic in the processor.

This page is the front door to that practice. Below is the ladder of services we provide, the process we follow, and the way we measure our own work. If your site needs PLC and SCADA integration, panel supervision, field commissioning or a legacy retrofit that keeps an aging line alive, start with the contact page and we will scope the first loop with you.

Six Rungs · Six Services

Read the ladder from top to bottom like a control sequence

Each rung below carries a contact at the left, a load plate in the middle and a coil at the right. The rung is the service, the plate is the promise and the coil is the result the client receives. Rung four is inverted on purpose so the board has rhythm the way a real cabinet does.

We begin with the sequence of operations, the cause and effect matrix and a block diagram that names every device on the process. From that base we develop the network topology, the controller selection, the I/O count and the safety concept, then write the architecture narrative that a plant engineer, an insurer and a maintenance crew can all follow. Every architecture package leaves our American Fork office as a drawing set, a device list and a written basis of design. That package is the foundation the rest of the project is wired against.

Sequence of Operations Cause and Effect Network Topology

Our programmers write structured ladder and function block code, then build the SCADA screens that operators actually use at three in the morning. We configure the communications path from processor to HMI to historian, tag every point with a consistent naming convention and test each faceplate against a live or simulated signal. Alarm rationalization is part of the scope, not an afterthought, so operators see the fault that matters instead of a wall of chattering alarms. Integration ends when the screens and the code match the sequence of operations line for line.

Ladder and FBD HMI Faceplates Alarm Rationalization

A panel is a small building and it deserves the same care. We produce the panel layout, the power distribution drawing, the terminal schedule and the wire number list, then supervise the fabricator through drilling, mounting, dressing and point to point continuity checks. Before a cabinet leaves the shop we witness the functional test, capture the results and photograph the interior so the as built record is honest. No terminal is left unlabeled and no spare is left undocumented.

Panel Layout Terminal Schedule Point to Point Check

Commissioning is where drawings meet dirt. We loop check every instrument, verify rotation and stroke, tune the control loops, prove the interlocks and document each test on a signed sheet. Our engineers work beside the electrical contractor and the operations crew so the handover is a working session, not a folder dropped on a desk. A loop is closed only when the process variable moves the way the sequence of operations says it should, and when the operator agrees it does.

Loop Checking Interlock Proof Signed Test Sheets

Older lines rarely get the luxury of a shutdown. Our retrofit method migrates one control island at a time, keeps the old system running in parallel, and cuts over during a planned window with a rollback plan written before the first wire is moved. We reverse engineer panels that have no drawings, rebuild the I/O map, and reproduce the process behavior closely enough that operators barely notice the processor changed underneath them. The plant gains modern diagnostics without surrendering production.

Reverse Engineering Phased Cutover Rollback Plan

A control system is a living asset, so our relationship does not end at handover. Support contracts give clients a named engineer, a defined response window and remote diagnostics into the controller and the SCADA node. We keep the as built drawings current, train the maintenance team, and review alarm history each quarter to find the faults that keep coming back. The coil at the end of this rung is availability, and we treat it as the product.

Industries We Serve

Where our control work lands

Our clients share one trait. They run physical processes that must be reliable, repeatable and documented. BarnettWorks fits the sectors below, and every engagement is measured against the same standard of a drawn, wired and proven loop.

Barnettworks Limited Co. supports the following industry categories, and the same engineering discipline applies to each of them.

  • Computer Systems Design and Related Services

How We Work

Six steps from first walkthrough to signed support agreement

The process mirrors the ladder above because the ladder is not decoration. It is the sequence we actually run on a project, and the client sees the same structure from kickoff to handover.

STEP 01

Walkthrough and Scope

We walk the process with your operations and maintenance leads, photograph the existing cabinets, and record what the line must do. The output is a written scope with assumptions stated openly so there is no hidden surprise later in the project.

STEP 02

Basis of Design

We produce the architecture narrative, the device list and the I/O estimate. This is where the control philosophy is fixed, including the safety concept and the network layout, before any hardware is ordered or any code is written.

STEP 03

Drawing Package

Ladder logic, panel layouts, terminal schedules and wire number lists are issued for review. Your team marks them up, we revise them, and the approved revision becomes the reference for fabrication and field work.

STEP 04

Fabrication Supervision

We sit with the panel shop through build and test, witness the continuity checks, and sign the functional test record. The cabinet arrives on site with an as built photograph set already attached to the project file.

STEP 05

Field Commissioning

Loop checks, interlock proofs, loop tuning and operator walkthroughs happen on site. Each test is recorded, each deviation is resolved, and the turnover package is assembled in parallel with the field work rather than weeks after it.

STEP 06

Support and Review

After handover we keep the drawings current, run remote diagnostics and review alarm history on a schedule. The support contract is the final rung and the one that keeps the whole control system honest over the years.
